A few black clouds rolled in while we were on the top but they didn't hide the awesome view.

That is Colorado Springs off in the distance.

Incredible beauty met our eyes in every direction.

And then we had to leave as it was 4:00 and the Rangers want everyone off the summit by then, and out of the park itself by 5:00.

We made a stop on the way down to snap this picture.

The road doubles back on itself in several places as you drive down.

And there is that rainbow again. It was so beautiful to be above the rainbow!

Thanks for the gorgeous, breathtaking tour up Pike's Peak. Especially since the time I was up there as a kid, it literally did take my breath away. Had a headache and felt nauseous. My dad was probably driving too fast, as usual, and I was suffering altitude sickness from too quick an assent!

Nancy,
Good to hear from you again! I also felt a bit nauseous and hubby had a headache. And at 14,000 feet, you can't move around much without becoming out of breath. I now have real respect for the climbers on Everest! ~marge~
