WE'RE ALL WASHED UP!

Our Pastor mentioned this in church this morning: We're all washed up! He based his statement on Titus 3:5-6 "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior......" Yes, we are all washed up! Thank God!

He also put it another way: God doesn't work at WalMart. God is not a clerk, standing at the register, taking our righteous deeds in payment for His blessings. Of course, we have no righteous deeds....nothing we can bring in payment. Salvation is our free gift as Titus continues in verse 7: "...so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

It was a beautiful sermon today. And we sang my grandma Otto's favorite hymn:

Built on the rock, the church doth stand, even when steeples are falling.
Crumbled have spires in every land, bells still are chiming and calling.
Calling the young and old to rest, but above all the souls distressed,
Longing for rest everlasting.
