TOTE BAGS

I think I've mentioned a couple of times that I've been doing some sewing the past couple of weeks. I know I've mentioned that I've visited JoAnn Fabrics and the Quilting by the Bay shop a few times! This is what I've been making. My friend from Maryland, Carole, brought along this pattern, and I liked it and have become a bag making maniac! I've made these three and have the parts cut out for four more!

I know the background of my blinds isn't the best, but I had promised to show my projects, so I just took thee photos on the spur of the moment and here they are. What do you think?

These are beautiful! You should sell them on ebay...you could make enough money to go out to restaurants on your birthdays!

Joni, I'd make them for a good cup of coffee! They are kind of neat aren't they. And fun to make. You feel like you are a real designer when you decide where to put which fabric!

I think I figured out that I have 18 people I could give one to...and that's just birthdays coming up shortly!

They are totally adorable. I love the little pocket on the outside - just right for a cell phone. Do they have compartments inside also? Where can I find the pattern - as I brought along some lightweight upholstery fabric specifically for the purpose of making myself a new bag. Simplicity? McCalls? Vogue?

Lena, the pattern is one of those special ones hanging all over quilt shops. I don't remember the name right now, but I'll check it out and email it to you. Actually, I can tell you how to do it if You can't find the pattern. It's easy!

Everyone: They are kind of cute, aren't they. These are pretty good sized, made out of five inch blocks. My friend, Carole, made one that is just three squares across and the same three down that is shown on the totes. It makes for a smaller, purse sized bag.
