I forgot to mention in my last post that we bought a pressure canner and dozens of canning jars. This photo from 2006 shows why! This is hubby and son with the catch of the day! And was it ever good.
Ernie's salmon was 35 pounds, Chris's was 50. Those are nice fish for sure, but not that unusual. Three years ago our then 13 year old grandson got a 98 pound halibut. That is good eating!
My husband and I retired on June 1 2006. We sold our house and are living in a 34 foot 5th wheel and traveling the USA. We are the parents of 7 great kids (ages 36 through 43)and the grandparents of 15 of the world's best grandkids (ages 6-22). UPDATE: We have now sold our big RV and are living in an apartment back home in Minnesota, close to most of our kids and grandkids. We still hope to travel, but it won't be a full time lifestyle like it was for 20 months.
My friend, Claudia, and her husband Bart, have written this book about their adoption journey, adopting 12 children. I recommend it for anyone interested in adoption, and it is a must read for those adopting from the foster care system.

Wow! Sushi for years! What a catch! Is this typical?
