Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star, gems the sky, gleaming bright,
From afar, drawing nigh,
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days,
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky,
As we go, this we know,
God is nigh.

Taps was written during the Civil War.  There are many differing stories regarding the origin, but the Military District of Washington D.C. lists General Butterfield as the composer and the man who directed that it be used for Taps in his brigade.  Today it is used whenever a person is buried with military honors anywhere in the United States.

hi marge, i adore your new look over here and like the template...i hated using them tho and found i couldn't tweak it at all...oh well, yours looks good and your photos, ALL of them are beautiful...i adore fiesta and have a few old ones from my grandmother....they don't make them anymore because of the lead, they can't get that color without it...i don't much like the new ones and these are just as nice...cheepko?:)
